GRUPPOGFT INTO THE FUTURE AT A GALLOP
In Turin, there's a lot of banging and crashing around Corso Emilia 6, the worldwide headquarters of Gruppo Finanziario Tessile S.p.A.
The well-known GFT, now called GruppoGft, has the quality of a contemporary war zone. Fiats zip in and out past the checkpoint guards. Workmen stalk in and out of the flapping tarps that shield most of the new seven-story edifice that struggles upward to be born by October.
It is called Casa Aurora, a reference to this quarter of old Turin and the name of an ancient house that stood on the site of architect Aldo Rossi's current project being erected at GruppoGft's base camp, ...
