NEW YORK, July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The celebration of the Centennial of the Statue of Liberty will be long remembered for three days of sun, fun, fireworks and patriotism.

It will also be recorded in the annals of garbarge history as one of the top-five garbage-generating celebrations ever staged in New York City. Although the amount of trash collected is not necessarily a measure of success for any given celebration, it certainly means plenty to the people who have to clean it up, the New York City Department of Sanitation.
