The rapid growth of Indonesian economy has helped boost the demand for office equipment, including typewriters. However, the influx of multi-function personal computers into the domestic market over the last 3 or 4 years seems to have caused the growth of the domestic demand for portable typewriters to be slow. Even so, the demand for typewriters has remained quite high despite the growing popularity of personal computers. Most of the domestic demand for typewriters is met with imported products. Almost all of the typewriter producers operating in Indonesia import typewriters under CKD condition and assemble them here.
