PITTSBURGH, July 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Imports of stainless steel sheet and strip from Mexico exploded nearly sevenfold in June, pushing total imports up 22 percent over the prior month, the Specialty Steel Industry of the United States said today.
Total stainless sheet and strip imports in June 1986 were 13,318 tons vs. 10,900 tons in the previous month and 11,795 tons in June 1985. For the six-month period, January through June 1986, imports of stainless sheet and strip products were 93,760 tons vs. 50,013 tons in the same period last year.
