Interest in Russian sable is heating up
NEW YORK -- Russian sable, the world's most exclusive and expensive fur, is shaping up as one of the industry's hottest tickets for fall.
In fact, some furriers and retailers specializing in the silky, silvery items -- which retail for as much as $250,000 -- are boasting that 1987 will be the ultimate year for the ultimate fur.
"I've seen very early interest in sable this year," noted Martin Paswall, president of Martin Paswall, Inc., a sable manufacturer here. "Compared to last year our demand is already up about 25 percent."
