Baths of Diocletian

Although many Roman monuments stand witness to the grandeur of classical architecture, comparatively few of the interior spaces have survived the ravages of time. Those that have endured were either incorporated into later structures such as the Golden House of Nero, built into the foundations of the Baths of Trajan; or transformed into churches, as was the Pantheon which in 609 AD was consecreated as Santa Maria delle Rotonda.
