Encouraged by a new government commitment to investigate unfair trade practices, an increasing number of Mexican industry groups have petitioned the Trade Secretariat (SECOFI) to investigate charges that foreign producers are "dumping" their products in Mexico.
The government emphasized its commitment to protect Mexican industry in March through the creation of an Unfair Trade Practices Committee, which will serve in an advisory capacity (for further details see SourceMex, 03/17/93).
