Summary:
An explosion blamed on human error left one person dead and another seriously burned at the Zaporojie nuclear power plant about 400 kilometres South East of Kiev, according to a plant official. The explosion occurred in an electricity generating plant about 200 metres from the closest nuclear reactor, and there was no increase in local radiation levels, according to plant Director Alexander Kaliukayev, who said that workers were repairing a hydrogen conduit leading to the generators at the time of the explosion.
