A second conference on the political future of the Netherlands Antilles, including representatives of the Netherlands, the Antillean federation, and Aruba, is to be held in late June or early July. The first conference, held in Willemstad March 8-10, ended in deadlock, without decisions on matters such as Aruba's desire to cancel its proposed move to independence in 1996, Curacao's demand for a separate status, and the future relations of the islands with the Netherlands if the present federations ceases to exist.
