Iran Victory Could Tip OPEC Balance
WASHINGTON -- Iran has already won major diplomatic victories on the oil front, and a victory on the battlefield could tip the OPEC balance of power toward that country for a long time to come.
G. Henry M. Schuler, director of the Bartlett Council on Energy and National Security, said the price hawks, led by Iran, seized the initiative at the last OPEC meeting a month ago, and he expects it to stick at least through the next meeting, which begins Oct. 6 in Geneva.
