Post-Labor Day Price Declines Minor

WHOLESALE GASOLINE prices have switched direction in the past week, and yesterday was the first day in which a clear majority of the price changes by the major U.S. oil companies were reductions.

The reductions were not generally over 1.0 cent per gallon, but they did outnumber the increases by over three to one, and this seems to mark the end of the price run-up in response to the OPEC production limit. Price reductions usually do occur after Labor Day and the end of the heavy driving season.
