National Journal's formula for success "National Journal is the trade magazine for the largest trade in the world--the United States Government," says Roger Kranz, the weekly magazine's vice president and associate publisher.
Not unexpectedly, then--and with due apologies to Mr. Orwell--if all trade magazines are equal, but some are more equal than others, the National Journal is more equal than any. The conceit applies to the magazine's price, its publishing formula, and its advertising. further, the proof is where it should be: in the numbers.
* At a time when a reader can still subscribe to The Atlantic for $10 a year, National Journal charges $546.
