The environment ministry of the north-east German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has been given a grant of DM145 million ($85.4 million) by the State and Federal Governments for the clean-up of former state-owned property acquired by companies under the German Government's privatization programme. The Federal Government has contributed DM87 million (60%) of the grant with the remaining DM58 million being allocated by the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state.
