The high demand for and consumption of electricity have forced the Government to increase its domestic procurement. PLN and the private sector have continued to implement power plant projects. For the past few years, electricity production has continued to increase. For 1989/90, electricity production is registered at 29,567,487 MWH's. For 1992/93, it reached 43,432,731 MWH's. Thus, for the past five years, electricity production rose at an average annual rate of 13.7%.
Besides procuring electricity through PLN, the Government has also adopted the so-called 'captive power' system, in which corporate users are allowed to procure power for their own use. Up to the ...
