THIS HAS BEEN a tumultuous year for those of us in the United States and the international community directly concerned with energy policy and the energy business, not only because of Chernobyl but because of the renewed and serious attempt by OPEC countries to increase their market share.
The OPEC actions have had a profound impact on prices, consumption and production that could have lasting consequences. Chernobyl has increased concern over nuclear safety and jeopardized public confidence in this energy option.
