Levine on the Meese Commission
Ellen Levine held the press seat on the Meese Commission. She doesn't know why she was appointed, or who was behind her appointment.
"But,' says the editor of Woman's Day, "it was a reasonable idea to select a woman's magazine editor since the subject [pornography] is of enormous concern to women.'
Levine got more than she bargained for when she accepted the seat. The commission was subsequently sued by five organizations, including Playboy, Penthouse and the Magazine Publishers' Association.
