China started producing hydrogen peroxide in 1958 employing the electrolysis process with ammonium sulfate as the raw material. Following 1977, production units based on the anthraquinone process were put into operation which rapidly boosted the output. In 1972, hydrogen peroxide output (calculated on the basis of 27.5% H(2)O(2)) reached 5880 tons; it rose to the record high of 22 100 tons in 1980.
