Meat production grows or declines with the population of livestock. The population of livestock in Indonesia grows at an average annual rate of 13.2%. In 1993, it increased by 13.3% from a year earlier to 902 million pieces. Of the different types of livestock, poultry accounts for most of the population. In 1993, there were 868.7 million pieces of poultry or around 96.3% of the total population of livestock in Indonesia.
