Billed as the world's fourth largest economic grouping after the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the European Union and the ASEAN pact, the ACS is open to all states in the hemisphere washed by the Caribbean sea. Eligible for full membership in the ACS are the 12 independent members of Caricom (the English-speaking Caribbean), the six Central American republics, the G-3 (Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela), and Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Suriname, for a total of 25.
