Demerara Distillers Ltd. (DDL), which produces bulk and bottled rum and a range of vodka and gin brands, plans a major expansion into the Caribbean Community (Caricom) market in a joint venture with another Guyanese company, says DDL chairman Yesu Persaud. The company also announced a $9.6 million expansion program for 1995/96. Last year, DDL secured a new market in Aruba (which it is also using as a transshipment point for its vodka, rum and gin products) and established a subsidiary in the United Kingdom to bottle its El Dorado Gold rums, Ivanoff and Vaskaya Vodkas and Lord Roberts Gin there.
