Article: WME wins Spanish hazwaste contract

Waste Management Espana (WME), the Spanish subsidiary of Waste Management International plc (WMI), has been chosen by the regional government of Galicia to manage operations at its new industrial waste treatment facility. Located in Somozas, in the province of La Coruna, the facility has an annual capacity of 72,000 tonnes of industrial and hazardous waste. It comprises a physico-chemical treatment plant with an annual capacity of 20,000 tonnes, to treat inorganic liquid wastes and sludges; a stabilization plant to treat liquids, solids and sludges; and an eight-cell secure landfill, with a total capacity of around 500,000 tonnes.
