Dainippon Ink and Chemical Co of Japan is planning to establish a joint venture in China with China's Tianma Group Corp and Japanese trading company Itochu Corp. The joint venture, Chanzhou Huari New Material Co, will produce and market unsaturated polyester resins and sheet moulding compounds (SMC). The joint venture is scheduled to begin operations this month. The plan is to increase Tianma's existing production of polyester resins to an eventual capacity of 30 000 tonnes/year. An additional facility will convert much of this resin into SMC with capacity for SMC production reaching 10 000 tonnes/year by the end of 1995. The Chinese market for composite materials is ...
