If you believe Bob Jelenic, president and CEO of the Journal Register Company (Trenton, NJ), there was no master plan behind the company's recent push into Connecticut.
As expected (NewsInc., March 6), the Journal Register announced last month an agreement to purchase from CapCities's New England Newspaper Group 45 publications in Connecticut and Maine, including the daily Milford (Conn.) Citizen; 30 free and paid weeklies; 10 shoppers; four real estate publications; and a commercial printing company. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
