Current economic expansion is expected to drive up demand for printing inks 6%/yr through the year 2000 by stimulating the flow of goods and services in a variety of sectors and increasing demand for printed and packaged goods. In addition, industry analyst Luci Young of Freedonia Group (Cleveland, OH) concludes that product mix changes will generate growth, even though water-based inks are often lower in cost than their solvent-based counterparts.
