Summary: A new European Economic Interest Grouping EURISCOAL (European Importers and Suppliers of Coal) has been set up by ATIC Services, Belgian Bunkering & Stevedoring, Carboex, Godefroid and Transco. The main objective of EURISCOAL is to restore coal's somewhat tarnished image and promote it in Europe as an energy source for the future, primarily for the production of electricity.
The founding members believe coal is the energy source which provides "the best outlook for security of supply and competitiveness on a worldwide basis". Compared with oil and natural gas, of which there are sufficient reserves for the next 40 and 60 years respectively, EURISCOAL says ...
