MOST OF THE FINAL DATA FOR 1994 has been released for the rental housing market.

Rental housing remains a significant component of the U.S. economy. Last year the total rental housing contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was 2.3 percent in both current and inflation adjusted constant 1987 dollar terms. Measured in nominal dollar terms the rental housing contribution was about $156.8 billion in 1994. The contribution is composed of the value added of rental services provided by owners and new rental construction work put in place.
