Article: TISSUE PAPER PRODUCTION CONTINUES GROWING DESPITE DECLINES IN EXPORT VOLUME AND VALUE

Although Indonesia's tissue paper exports have declined both in volume and value, the production of such paper has continued to grow due to increases in domestic demand. In 1994, the volume of such exports reached 14,719 tons, down 2.2% from the previous year, and the value reached US$ 15.35 million, down 12.4% from US$ 17.52 million in 1993. On the contrary, the production of tissue paper rose by 12.7% from 36,300 tons in 1993 to 40,923 tons. For the past five years (1990-1994), Indonesia's tissue paper production grew at an average annual rate of 38.7%.
