The Administration has long been concerned about a possible Contra-gate, and one of the stories now swirling around is that it tried a particularly ugly manipulation of the Associated Press.
On March 16, 1985, the A.P.'s Middle East bureau chief, Terry Anderson, was kidnapped in Lebanon. He remains captive to this day.
