Hoechst Celanese is chosen as name
Hoechst Celanese Corp. will be the name of the company to be formed by the proposed acquisition of Celanese Corp. by American Hoechst Corp.
A Hoechst spokesman confirmed that employees have been notified of the new name and, according to a Celanese spokesman, "the new name indicates the determination to continue use of both company names after the merger.'
Fiber industry observers feel the choice of the name, using Celanese as well as Hoechst, indicates the company will likely continue to use both fiber trade names: Hoechst's Trevira and Celanese's Fortrel. Trevira and Fortrel are two of the industry's ...
