American Hoechst May Not Seal Celanese Buy in '86

SOMERVILLE, N.J. (FNS) -- American Hoechst Corp. said it may not be able to complete its acquisition of Celanese Corp. before the end of the year because it is still answering requests of the Federal Trade Commission for additional information.

Since the preferential tax treatment for capital gains will no longer be available next year, American Hoechst notes that some shareholders may want to withdraw shares tendered and sell them on the open market before year-end.
