Paul Smith to Open First US Store in N.Y. in April CHICAGO -- British designer Paul Smith is planning to open his first American store in April 1987 in New York.
The 2,100-square-foot store, which will be fully owned by smith, will be located in Manhattan at 5th Avenue and 16th Street.
Smith currently has four owned stores in Great Britain and three licensed stores in Japan.
The New York shop initially will only sell Smith's couture line, though he says he is considering adding sportswear at a later date.
Smith added that he expects the store to do about $1 million in volume during the first year.
