One tire cord producer, namely PT Andayani Megah (PT MA) has made a plan on increasing its annual nylon tire cord production capacity by 16,000 tons with an investment of Rp 648.8 billion. Through this project, PT MA --a Gajah Tunggal Group subsidiary whose plant is located in Tangerang, West Java-- will also have the capacity to produce polyester oriented yarn/POY (29,000 tons per annum), polyester fiber (45,000 tons per annum), and polyester chips (45,000 tons per annum). Up to now, since its commencement of operations in 1990, PT MA has had the capacity to produce only nylon tire cord (24,000 tons per annum) and cord treater (600 tons per annum).
