Export Ban Only Hurts U.S.
ONE OF THE PRICES the Soviet Union was forced to pay for such departures from common decency as the invasion of Afghanistan, violations of human rights and the shooting down of Korean Airline Flight 007 was economic retaliation by the United States of America. But something went wrong along the way. Like the parent who tells an errant child, "This will hurt you more than me" before a spanking, U.S. industry was hurt more than the Soviets by the actions.
