LANDISVILLE, Pa., Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The highest yield ever recorded for shelled corn in Pennsylvania was harvested by a Beaver County farmer during the 1986 growing season, according to the Pennsylvania Master Corn Growers Association (PMCGA).
John Cooper, who farms 670 acres, harvested a crop yielding 252.4 bushels per acre from Funk's G-4446 hybrid seed corn. This variety was especially developed for Pennsylvania growing conditions, according to Fred Lepley, spokesman for Hoffman Seeds Inc., the northeastern distributor of Funk's G-hybrid corn.
