In Indonesia, sulfuric acid is widely used as a basic material for the production of phosphoric acid, which itself is a basic material for the production of triple super phosphate (TSP) fertilizer, alkyl benzene sulphonate or ABS (a basic material for detergent), sodium sulphate (kraft paper), and aluminum sulfate (water treatment). In addition, sulfuric acid can also function as an anti-corrosive material for iron and steel. Sulphuric acid can be produced using the lead chamber process or contact process. First, the sulphur is cleaned. Then, it is oxidized into sulphur dioxide (SO(2)). Next, the sulphur dioxide is oxidized further into SO(3). Finally, the SO(3) is reacted ...
