Dutch and German chemical groups, DSM NV and BASF AG are to combine their unsaturated polyester resins businesses in a 60/40joint venture to be called DSM-BASF Structural Resins.
The merger will create the largest supplier of unsaturated polyester resins in Europe, with combined sales of about NLG500 million employing about 550 people. The joint venture will assume the Atlac, Neogel, Daron, Synolite, Palatel and Palapreg product lines of the former stand alone businesses.
