China has a rich lithium reserve of 4.977 million tons, holding the second place in the world. The reserve in sea water is 3.941 million tons, accounting for 79.2%. The development prospects are excellent.
The capacity of lithium salts was 13,000 t/a (based on lithium carbonate) in 1995, holding the third place in the world only next to the United States and the former Soviet Union.
The lithium output in China increased rapidly from 2 000 tons (based on lithium carbonate) in 1984 to 11,000 tons in 1995. Xinjiang Lithium Sale Plant is the producer with the biggest output and the most complete variety. The plant produces 8,000 tons of lithium salts (based on ...
