Barbados has grossed more than Bds$1 billion dollars (Bds$1= US50 cents) in revenue from tourism, with growth between January and October 1996 estimated at 6.6% over the previous year, a senior tourism official said December 30. Tom Hill, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at the Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA), said total visitor arrivals for the review period amounted to 765,458:
* At the end of 10 months, the island was also on target for achieving its B$1.399 billion dollar revenue target for calendar 1996. Between January and October, there was a 1.8% increase in long-stay visitor arrivals, to 366,462. Cruise ship arrivals also rose by 11.4% to 398 996;
