THE SODIUM SULFATE market is continuing its strong rebound, leading one US producer to push for a price increase and to consider opening its idled plant.
Overseas demand for the product continues to surge, sparked mainly by the growth of detergent sales to developing countries, resulting in tightness in the global market. However, some players question whether the current supply crunch will persist beyond the third quarter, as new byproduct capacity in the US and expansions of natural producers abroad could balance the market out later this year.
