TOKYO, March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The Tokyo Electric Power Company, Inc., held a ceremony recently to mark the commencement of formal operations of the Group 1 plant of its Futtsu Thermal Power Station.

This part of the power station is capable of producing one million kilowatts of electricity.

The power generating systems and associated equipment used in the power station were suppled by GE's Turbine Business Operations, headquartered in Schenectady, N.Y., in a $500 million contract signed in 1981.
