MIAMI, April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Eastern Airlines flew more passengers and recorded more revenue passenger miles in March this year than in any previous month in its history, eclipsing an earlier mark set in August, 1986.
Heavy public response to Eastern's innovative low fare structure amid a generally healthy national economy spurred the traffic surge.
The 3.5 billion revenue passenger miles flown in March was a 15.4 percent increase over the 3.1 billion flown in the same month of 1986.
