The parent of Cato Research Ltd. of Durham has partnered with a hospital, a doctor and a gene-therapy firm to develop gene therapy treatments for vascular diseases.
Vascular Genetics Inc. will begin its new life with help from the four founders, including offices and services at Cato in Durham, and a start-up loan from Human Genome Sciences Inc., a public company based in Maryland.
Cato Holding Co. will also provide management, regulatory services and clinical development, while HGSI will contribute exclusive gene therapy rights for its vascular endothelial growth factor 2 gene. The gene is believed to stimulate the growth of human vascular endothelial cells. ...
