SCOTIA LIPIDTEKNIK of Sweden is planning the worldwide introduction of Olibra, a palm oil-based food ingredient that curbs the appetite. The product is an emulsion of lipid fractions from palm and oat oils, extracted through large-scale chromatography.
Executives from Scotia LipidTeknik and its UK parent company Scotia Pharmaceutical will draw up plans in the next few weeks for introducing Olibra in the UK and later the US, probably through third-party partners. Last week, Skanemejerier, a Swedish food company, launched a yogurt containing the ingredient.
