In 1995, SPC launched a programme to raise its gas production from about 8 MCM/day in that year to 17.8 MCM/day by 2000 - excluding Al Furat's gas production. It listed four related projects:
1. The first phase of five Palmyra fields' development to produce 3 MCM/day by 1996. These exclude Marathon's fields.
2. The second phase, involving Najib and Sokhne, would raise total production from the five fields to 6 MCM/day (2.2 BCM/year).
3. The Jibeissah field's facilities will be expanded so that the output of processed gas rises to 2.5 MCM/day, from 1.7 MCM/day in 1995.
4. Marathon's fields should be producing about 11 MCM/day by 2000, the SPC plan ...
