Expert Systems' Process Engineering Role Described
HOUSTON -- Expert, or knowledge-based, systems will provide useful support to existing simulation-oriented computer-assisted design systems in process engineering, according to a Japanese engineer.
"Although the applications of expert systems are presently limited, since there is no conjunction with existing computer sytems, research efforts to realize better software and hardware environments will expand these applications," said Tomio Umeda of Chiyoda Chemical Engineering and Construction Co.
