Summary: Foratom, the European Atomic Forum, has come out strongly in favour of the European Commission's April 8 Communication on the transport of radioactive materials (for more details, see Europe Energy No 511). Henri Libon, member of Foratom's Working Group on the Transport, which contributed to the drafting of the Communication, expressed his belief on May 11 that "a common standard for safe transportation will create a level of confidence in both the industry and safety authorities which should increase public acceptance of radioactive materials transport".
