SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 2, 1998--Among The Wine Club's customers, there is more wine interest, more purchases and more wine consumption than two years ago, according to a just completed Gomberg, Frederickson & Associates survey commissioned by The Wine Club, the West's leading premium wine-only retailer.

This underscores the stores' sales of $33 million in 1997 as compared with $26 million in 1996, according to Ron Loutherback, The Wine Club's founder.

While 56 percent of those surveyed are consuming about the same amount of wine as they did two years ago, 35 percent are actually drinking more wine with only 9 percent consuming less.
