Registrations fell from 350,298 in 1995/96 to 327,181 in 1996/97, a drop of 6.6%. Enrolments decreased in every province except Alberta. Higher registrations in sports and recreation and in liberal arts courses increased Alberta's enrolment by 4.7%.
