USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) departed Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Wash., June 22 for a seven- week underway period. After picking up Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11 in San Diego, the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier will cruise to Hawaiian waters to take part in RIMPAC `98.
Two other Bremerton-based warships will accompany Carl Vinson to take part in the exercise: USS California (CGN 36) and USS Rainier (AOE 7).
