Article: Delta Air Lines Files With DOT to Expand Latin America Service; Asks For New York to Brazil Route

ATLANTA, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) filed an application today with the U.S. Department of Transportation seeking authority to expand service to Brazil. Delta's application seeks approval to operate daily service from New York (JFK) to Sao Paulo. The proposed start-up date would be October 1, 1998, pending government approvals.

This authority is being sought pursuant to an agreement reached late last year between the United States and Brazil which provides seven additional weekly frequencies for U.S. carrier service to Brazil.
